Bounce Rate Tip #2

Hello again,

It seems that I still have some time during this long weekend to open a new topic that will help us understand more and more on the data coming from the web analytic tool we are using.

In my previous post I talked about conversion ratio and how important it is, today I will discuss one of the elements that are related somehow to the conversion, it’s the bounce rate.

Bouncing occurs according to Wikipedia when a website visitor leaves a page or a site without visiting any other pages before a certain session timeout elapses.

Conversion ratio tip #1

This shall be my first post related to web analytic; I will try to make my words as smooth as possible since I’m new in the writing world.

Conversion ratio or rate is a very important metric that’s something all analytic geeks agree upon, how it will be used and how obsessive people with it is something else we can get to… later.

XHTML/CSS Markup Generator

I came cross a very useful tool for those web designers who are trying to begin their journey with layouts and semantic markup for the first time.

The reason for posting this is that we are missing those people who care about semanticmarkup in the region, till now there are big companies and big names their websites are based on the old 90′s markup, full of tables and embedded and in-line styles.

Surprisingly, when you speak with people about the correct way of writing the markups you will be shocked of their weak knowledge. I personally don’t think it’s their fault, it’s just that no body educated them the right way and they market is not asking for this kind of knowledge.

Anyway, the tool is really very useful to shorten the time of slicing and writing the layout markup and makes it easy to jump directly to the styling stage.

Check the tool by visiting this page: XHTML/CSS Markup Generator

Fine Arts Session

A colleague (Ahmed Hussam – Creative Manager at LINK Development) asked me to volunteer in educational program at the Fine Arts collage (Helwan University at Cairo, Egypt) to improve students Internet and web design knowledge base. I was very excited to go back to school again but this time as a teacher (I never thought I will be a teacher ever before). Thesession will be about user experience in the web design field, I prepared some amazing slides about this issue and wow; I was amazed my self.

I will post back the updates on the session later.

This is my first blog

Me from backToday i can say that i’m a blogger.

For a while now people were asking me to start one, the problem was always “I don’t have time”. Now I realize that there is so much information that i come cross that is hopfully very useful and I can share them, and since i don’t have the time to start writing articles I thought that a blog might be the solution. So here I am (Rock You Like a Hurricane – The good old band Scorpions) writing my first blog and hopfuly I will continue.

Sincerely,
Bassel
